The Guardian:
“Morgan and Acyde are the musicians behind We Are Shining, the British duo who’ve been in the studio with Kanye, collaborated with FKA Twigs and specialise in an apocalyptic atmosphere. Their debut, Kara, mangles foreboding vocals with big beats and frantic electric guitar solos, veering between rock, swampy blues, climatic gospel and soul, all the while inspired by “Can to turn-of-the-century Neptunes”.
It’s a lot to tackle on one record, so they’ve enlisted a host of guest vocalists to aid them on their journey: album opener Road finds The Noisette’s Shingai and Acyde summoning the spirit of Hendrix, while Eska, Roses Gabor, Andrea Balency and Mallie emerge throughout the eleven track onslaught.”
